  Premium cars competitiveness cluster

Selected on December 20th, 2005, the Premimum Cars Competitiveness Cluster is now functioning. Management team is dispatched over the three areas covered by the Group: in Nantes for the Pays de la Loire area, in Rennes located in Brittany and very soon in Poitiers located in Poitou-Charentes.
 
 
The western automotive industry represents around 900 companies (including around 700 SME/SMI with less than 50 employees), 90000 employees, a 9.5 billion euro turnover (not including PSA Peugeot-Citroën). More than 1700 researchers are dispatched over these three areas.

Stakes and goals
 
To create a strong network in the automotive industry
 
To strengthn industrial competitiveness, fostering innovation in technologies or organizations
 
To support SME-SMI toward reaching an internal level
 
Reinforcing french industrial competitivenessin international markets is the main stake of the premium cars competitiveness cluster. In order to reach this goal, synergies must be created between companies, research centers, and local economic development agencies. Thus, the cluster will improve the premium image of the french automotive industry.

IndustriaL Excellence : design methods, developing new materials, making vehicles more reliable, adapting the production means to "highend" specifities,
 
New materials : safety and lightening of vehicles, new steel material, composite and rubber materials,
 
Sensory awareness : Using existing know-how in other sectors : Products : Finish, performance and perceived quality...New demands from the customer : comfort; pleasure, well-being, safety, image...A common platform policy requires a diffrentiation through design and finish,
 
 
Globalisation : taking advantage of an "innovative" project to develop on the world market, helping the automotive industry companies to develop, to widen their fields of expertise, to improve their competitiveness,
   
 
New stakes : sustainable development, eco-conception, environment, recycling
